LEGACY USE ONLY - This article is only used for very old, Windows Mobile OS-based mobile scanning devices. This is not used with current Android-OS-based mobile devices and scanners.
A recent Microsoft Windows Update pushed out by Microsoft has broken Windows Mobile Device Center, which is what Windows uses to communicate to the scanner over the USB cable/dock.
IF you are using the 1. Sync feature on the scanner, this article is not for you.
If it says not connected your windows PC is having problems communicating with the scanner.
This article is only for wired connections to the PC. IF you are NOT using the WiFi version or access method, a great option is to convert to and use the WiFi version and method of connecting and syncing with the scanner.
No USB cable or docking station or WMDC software, or Windows PC is required. All you need is the Finale Data Collector software installed on the handheld unit. If you bought it from our preferred hardware provider they pre-install this software and you are ready to go. If you did not use our preferred hardware provider you must connect the scanner to a Windows PC with a USB cable to install the software.
To fix the Windows 10 USB connectivity problem you will need to conduct the following:
BEGIN BY UNDOCKING THE SCANNER
1) Uninstall Windows Mobile Device Center AND any Mcafee/3rd party virus scanner (then Restart PC) Go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, and Uninstall WMDC. REBOOT after Completing this step.
2) Re-Install Windows Mobile Device Center - https://www.microsoft.com/en-u
The installation process for WMDC is sometimes long and windows disappear for a while. Be Patient and wait for the installation process to completely finish.
3) Download this file, save it to your desktop, right-click and select "Run as Administrator" (once Complete, Restart the Computer) - https://drive.google.com/fi
4) Once rebooted, RESET the Mobile Scanner Pressing and holding the W key and C key down and while holding those two keys down, press and release the Red power button.
Then Dock the scanner and it should connect.
VERY IMPORTANT - You must remove any cell phones that may be plugged into any of your PC's USB ports. These types of devices will prevent Finale Inventory from communicating with the mobile barcode scanner. IF you have any PHONE device plugged into a USB port on your PC, please remove it and see if it resolves your problem.
