Where does the shipment ID number come from?

For a shipment associated with a purchase order or sales order, the shipment ID number is the order number append with -1 for the first shipment, and an increasing number for additional shipments associated with the order. For transfer shipment, the shipment ID number is an increasing unique number starting at 10000.
