When importing each order, Finale will determine the warehouse assigned to the order and use the corresponding options specified below to determine how to update stock levels in your account. There are two options that we will discuss below.
Option 1: "Update Stock at Specified Sublocation"
If the setting is configured to “update stock levels at a specified sublocation”, when the order is marked shipped/fulfilled on your shipping platform or selling channel, a shipment will be created in Finale to decrement stock levels at the sublocation specified in the “integration settings”.
In order to determine where your stock is in the warehouse, you can utilize “standard bin ID” to let staff know where to go in the warehouse to “pick” the product. Additionally, if you are using Shipstation, we can “push” the “standard bin ID” information to Shipstation to assist the picking team in locating the product without the necessity of entering Finale. If you would like to learn more on how to utilize this standard bin ID feature please see this article, How to push Standard Bin ID to Shipstation
When using the setting “update stock levels at a specified sublocation” you will not have an individual stock level per sublocation but rather will have one combined stock level in one sublocation.
Option 2: "Update stock levels using barcode scanner to pack shipments"
With this option, you will be using our Finale Inventory barcode scanning app. With this configuration stock levels will be updated in Finale using shipments packed in Finale with the barcode scanner. When the order is marked shipped/fulfilled, all packed shipments for the order in Finale will be marked shipped. If there are no packed shipments, then the order will display a warning until the shipment is packed in Finale.
When using the barcode scanner to pick/pack your sales orders, this gives you the ability to have stock in individual sublocations and also have independent stock levels per sublocation for any given product.
Note: Use of the barcode scanning app is not available on all pricing plans and is reserved for “Gold” and above plans. Please see the pricing page for more info. Finale Pricing Page
