Stock transfers are an integral part of warehouse operations. They involve moving goods from one sublocation to another within the warehouse. This can be a simple task, such as moving items from a receiving area to a storage area, or it can be a more complex process involving multiple locations within the warehouse.
One of the main reasons why stock transfers are important is because they help to optimize warehouse space. By moving goods to the most appropriate location, the warehouse can use its space more efficiently. This can help to reduce the cost of storage and ensure that goods are easily accessible when needed.
Stock transfers can also help to improve inventory accuracy. By moving goods from one location to another, warehouse staff can ensure that the inventory system reflects the correct location of each item. This can help to reduce errors and improve the speed and accuracy of order fulfillment.
In addition, stock transfers can help to improve the overall efficiency of warehouse operations. By moving goods to the right location at the right time, warehouse staff can ensure that they are able to quickly and easily locate and retrieve items as needed. This can help to reduce the time it takes to fulfill orders, leading to increased customer satisfaction and improved profitability for the warehouse.
The stock transfer function allows the user to transfer stock from one sublocation to another sublocation. Even if you are moving inventory from one physical location to another, the user must have an origin sublocation and a destination sublocation specified in order for the stock to properly be transferred.
There are two options available to perform a stock transfer outside the barcode scanner solution:
- Quick Stock Transfer
- Create Transfer Shipment
How-to Perform Quick Stock Transfer
The quick stock transfer is exactly what it sounds like. It is a quick transfer, allowing the user to transfer stock of an item from one sublocation to another sublocation. This is more common when the user only has a few transfers to perform.
How-to Perform a Transfer Shipment
Unlike the other stock transactions, there is not a visible spreadsheet import option for the stock transfer shipment. The user has the option to create a transfer order and corresponding shipment, or simply navigate to creating a transfer shipment.
From the transfer shipment screen, you can select the import option from the drop-down actions menu. The user can elect to enter their transfer information via spreadsheet or manually on the transfer screen.
