Finale Inventory will push an invoice to QuickBooks Online when the invoice is marked posted in your Finale account. In addition, users can continue to edit and update the invoice within Finale Inventory, and those edits, or updates, will sync to the invoice in QuickBooks Online as expected.
However, once a payment is applied to the invoice in your QuickBooks Online account, then QuickBooks Online will no longer allow any edits or updates to sync to the invoice from Finale Inventory. If you were to try and update the invoice in Finale after linking a payment to the invoice in your QuickBooks Online account, you would receive an integration warning in the integration log: pushing invoice failed, cannot update due to linked payment.
The solution is as simple as it sounds: unlink your payment in your QuickBooks Online account. Once you unlink your payment in QuickBooks Online for the invoice in question, then the update you made to the invoice in Finale will be able to sync to QuickBooks Online.
This should not be a common issue for many users since the payment is usually received after the invoice is finalized. Most users wouldn’t update an invoice at this point in the process.
If you are seeing this warning message in your integration log without triggering any updates to an invoice within Finale Inventory (quantity change, price update, etc), please email us at service@finaleinventory.com.
Please note: if you are seeing this warning message when your invoice in Finale Inventory matches your invoice in QuickBooks Online, then there really isn’t any issue or error to resolve outside the warning message.
