You may receive a message like "Unfortunately, Finale Inventory as stopped." on your Android OS based mobile scanner device. If you do this is most likely caused by an incompatible version of the Android OS trying to run the latest version, v12191 or higher, of our mobile application.
If your Android hardware is not running Android OS version 8.1 or higher, you will most likely not be able to run version v12191 or higher of our Finale Inventory mobile app, that comes for the Google Play store or manually downloaded from APKPURE or a direct, manual link.
Depending on the version of Android OS your device may be running, it is possible that it automatically downloaded the latest version of the Finale Inventory application from the Google Play store and it is not compatible with your device. See release notes here.
To resolve the issue you will need to manually restore your Android hardware back to a previous version of our mobile app.
Here are instructions on how to do so:
- Uninstall the Finale Inventory application on your Android hardware/device(note: this will result in your app settings getting lost. We recommend documenting what these settings are before uninstalling for easy reconfiguration later)
- Go to the Google Chrome app on the scanner. Type in this URL: https://tinyurl.com/v12190 and click go.
- It may tell you: "Your connection is not private", Click the advanced button, Then it may say "This server could not prove that it is app.finaleinventory.com...", then click the "Proceed to app.finaleinventory.com (unsafe) link anyway. If it gives you a security warning, just click continue. Click the Download button. It should start downloading.
- Then click OPEN, Then Install.
If you need the features of the latest version of our software you will need to either update your Android device/handheld to the higher version of the Android OS (8.1 or higher) or purchase a newer Android hardware device that is running a compatible version of the Android OS.
Finale Inventory is not able to assist with any hardware OS upgrades/updates. Please reach out to the device manufacturer or place where you purchased it for assistance.
Here is a list of current hardware providers.
