Finale has several ways to keep track of your inventory, which is accessible on several different screens. A common question is the difference between QoH (Quantity on Hand) and Available stock. QoH is the actual, physical amount of an item in stock. If you are a warehouse, this is the physical amount on your shelf, not considering any orders, reservations, holds, etc. It is the physical count ONLY. The Available stock, on the other hand, is your QoH minus any reservations to the stock plus any stock on order.
The third area you will see inventory counts is in the Stock History tab. A common question is: "Why is this total different than my current stock level?". The answer is because the stock history running total is only a sum of what is shown on the screen based on your filters. If you are looking at All Dates, then this number WILL equal your stock level. However, if you change the date, it will be different, because now you are removing records from the running total. Here is an example of the stock history running total with NO date filter.
As you can see, the running total is 10, because it added up every history on this item. Now let's see how it changes when I filter only by 2018.
You can see that it is now showing -5 for the running total. This is because the purchase on 8/26/2016 for a qty of 18 has been filtered out, as well as any sales from 2017. This is the difference between your stock count and the running total.
