Finale Inventory's mobile barcode scanning application is called Finale Data Collector and will run on the preferred Android-OS or legacy Windows Mobile-OS platforms.
Buy your scanner hardware from anywhere
Our Finale Inventory barcode scanning application is hardware agnostic. We do not require you to use any specific make, model, or brand, nor do you have to purchase your hardware from our preferred vendors. As long as your hardware meets the minimum OS and Hardware specifications you should be able to use it with our application.
We do have a list of preferred hardware vendors for you to choose from. They stand behind and service the products that they sell. They provide outstanding customer support, and pre-configure and install our software so they are ready-to-go, out of the box.
If you need assistance selecting a scanner, the link below contains a list of other Android-OS based scanners and Windows mobile OS based scanner options from a recommended non-affiliated hardware provider.
If you use PROMO CODE: finaleinventory4life at checkout you will receive an additional approximate 10% discount with the above-preferred vendor.
Android-OS based scanner options
We strongly recommend you use an Android-OS-based, dedicated mobile scanning device. You may use Android phones and tablets as well but are slightly more cumbersome to use in a "mobile" fashion and the lack of a laser for scanning barcodes slows processing down a tidbit.
Besides a dedicated Android-OS-based mobile scanner, our application should work on most Android phones and tablets.
The Android app can be download from the Google Play store.
Many customers have used Android OS PCs and Tablets as shipping stations, complete with wireless keyboards and tethered Bluetooth scanners with great success.
We have a LEGACY Barcode version of our mobile app that will run on a Windows Mobile OS-based scanner. We are no longer releasing any new features, functions, or bug fixes for this platform.
If your organization has an existing investment in Windows Mobile OS-based scanning hardware, you should be able to use them or acquire them if desired. This OS platform has been phased out by Microsoft and hardware manufacturers alike. We strongly recommend against this retired platform. We do not provide any in-depth support for this platform anymore. The required supporting programs for them called WMDC have all been removed from Microsoft's websites.
