Serial numbers, Batch Ids, Lot ids, and Expiration Dates are supported in Finale Inventory.
There is a configuration setting you must turn on in Application settings, Product tab, Lot id. Use the Plain text option.
All of these values: Serial number, Lot ID, Batch Id, and Expiration date are called unique stock level identifiers. They are stored in Finale Inventory in the one and only Lot id field.
To record these types of unique identifiers, they are normally documented when you do a Purchase order and Receive a shipment against the PO.
It is on the Shipment in the LOT ID field where you document a serial number, batch, lot code or expiration date for an item you purchase or receive.
Once these unique identifiers are known to Finale Inventory they will be visible on the Stock View screen when you expand the details for the Product id using the triangle on the left of the row.
You can search all transactions for a specific serial number using the Stock History View Screen.
You may also use a Report on the Reports, Other Reports, Search shipments by Lot id.
Subsequently, When you create a shipment against a sales order for Picking/Packing and shipping the items out of inventory to your customer, you will see the lot id field on the sales order shipment screen to document which unique identifier you are shipping.
Dealing with serial numbers, batches, lots, and expiration dates is also made much easier and accurate with our mobile barcode scanning application.
