How do I Convert the Unit of Measure (UOM) on a Purchase Order?

Finale does not convert units of measurement or quantities between different units of measure. You must receive in the same UOM that you ordered however you can modify your purchase order to reflect the case equivalent following these steps:

Step 1: Go to Inventory>>Products and enter Product ID in the product filter field. Click on the Product ID link to be directed to the product detail screen.

Step 2: Add your standard packing or case equivalent for your product. (For example: if you are storing your inventory in teaspoons, but you are purchasing in gallons, your std packing is 768/1 which = 768 teaspoons to 1 gallon) Be sure to add your unit of measure. Click on "save now" in the upper right hand corner.

Step #3: Go to Reports>>Documents>>Purchase documents and click on Print Purchase Order.

Step #4: Click on customize to modify the purchase order document.

Step #5: Scroll down to your Calculated columns and change the "Order Item: Quantity, sum" column data to "Order Item: Quantity case or case equivalent sum." Your label will automatically change so you will need to edit it and type in "Quantity". Once the modifications have been made, save the changes to the document in the upper right hand corner. 

Step #6: Go to Purchases>>Add new Purchase order and create your purchase order line item entry utilizing your standard unit of measure. 

Step #7: Click on Actions and "Print purchase order."

Step #8: The purchase order document will now display the 1 unit or in this example the 1 gallon needed to order from your supplier; although you will receive the essential oil in teaspoons into inventory.
