Wave Picking Warehouse setup

Just getting ideas of setting up a warehouse properly for wave picking. I was told once this is set up you can not add more rows to the warehouse without messing up the wave picking?? This sure does not seem correct.. I would think as long as you establish the flow in the scan gun the rows wouldn't even have to be sequential.... Any thoughts?
